Jalandhar, August 14: A desperate rescue attempt is underway to free a technician trapped in 80 feet of soil at the Delhi-Katra Motorway construction site on the Kartarpur-Kapurthala stretch. However, the operation suffered a huge blow on Monday morning when more soil fell at the location, further delaying rescue efforts and reducing the man’s prospects of survival.
Suresh Kumar, the technician, became trapped when the ground broke way on Saturday night. The rescue operation has been ongoing since 8 p.m. on Saturday, but a recent development has extended the suffering.
Suresh and his colleague, Pawan, were repairing a broken equipment when the awful tragedy occurred. The existence of loose dirt and a nearby pond, according to the local authorities, posed tremendous hurdles to rescue efforts.
According to Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Jalandhar, a significant amount of earth crumbled on Monday morning while rescue personnel were approaching the stranded individual. He calculated that it would take another three hours to successfully extract the man.
The situation remains severe as time passes and rescue teams continue their courageous efforts. The community and authorities are united in their desire for a successful rescue, despite the fact that the barriers and risks are obviously significant.
