Himachal Cloudburst: On Wednesday night, a cloudburst slammed Dadiyat hamlet near Aauli in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, killing five people.
Authorities are worried that other persons may have gone missing. Kuldeep and his family from Sirmouri Taal hamlet are among the missing, and they are believed to be trapped beneath the debris. Kuldeep’s wife, Jeeto Devi (55), Rajni Devi (31), and her two children, Nitesh (10) and Deepika (8), are all missing.
“DEOC Sirmour informed that an incident of Cloud Burst occurred at Village Malagi Dadiyat, Aauli, Tehsil Paonta Sahib, District Sirmaur due to this incident, 5 family members of Kuldeep Kamar are missing,” said the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in a bulletin.
“According to recent information received from DEOC Sirmour, 5 people, including Kuldeep and his family, were buried under debris,” the statement continued.
SEOC further reported that a rescue mission is now underway. An official statement added, “SDM Paonta Sahib, Tehsildar Paonta Sahib, Naib Tehsildar Paonta Sahib, VRO Ajuali, Police officials, and HPPWD department officials are on the spot to handle this situation.”
Ongoing efforts are being made to locate the missing people through a rescue operation. A team of rescue workers, comprising Paonta Sahib SDM, tehsildar, naib tehsildar, police officers, and PWD employees, is on the scene to supervise and coordinate the efforts.
