Fresh violence in Manipur: According to witness sources, three persons were slain in new violence in Manipur’s Bishnupur district early Saturday morning, including a father-son combination.
According to police reports, suspected militants attacked Ukha Tampak hamlet near Kwakta in Bishnupur around 2 a.m. and began firing indiscriminately.
Two men, a father and son, were slain in the incident, as was another person in an adjacent house. They were unarmed villagers keeping an eye on their homes.
According to authorities, the three were gunned slain while sleeping and then cut with swords. The suspects were from Churachandpur.
According to police sources, the attackers were able to breach the buffer zone, which was patrolled by central security forces.
After new violence erupted in many districts, Manipur Police said on Friday that joint troops conducted search operations in vulnerable and periphery areas of the conflict-torn state and dismantled seven illegal bunkers.

The woman, identified as Aribam Wahida Bibi, was shot in the hand and is being treated at an Imphal hospital, he said.
