Dengue cases in Uttarakhand: Following the terrible floods that wreak devastation throughout Uttarakhand, a new, alarming catastrophe has emerged: the spread of vector-borne illnesses. After experiencing flash floods, unrelenting rain, and receding floodwaters throughout Uttarakhand, the state is now dealing with an increase in dengue, chikungunya, and eye flu infections.
In Uttarakhand, where nature has wreaked havoc, dengue outbreaks are now causing anxiety among the populace as the state has had over 600 cases of the virus spread by mosquitoes.
The highest number of dengue patients, or 418, are located in Dehradun, whereas the total number of dengue cases for the entire state is 600.
The state’s Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, and Dehradun districts are hardest hit by dengue.
Recent heavy rains have left behind stagnant water that serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes that spread the dengue and chikungunya viruses. Aedes mosquitoes can also breed in certain sections of the state when there is waterlogging. These mosquitoes are in charge of spreading the Zika, chikungunya, and dengue viruses.
Health authorities are taking a number of actions, including advertising and door-to-door services, to control the spread of these illnesses as the state struggles with the huge increase in dengue cases.
Notably, the viral sickness known as Dengue (break-bone fever) is transmitted from mosquitoes to humans.
