Internet suspension in Nuh: Days after a communal clash in Haryana’s Nuh triggered by an objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal activist, Haryana’s Nuh District suspended mobile internet and SMS services for two days after the Vishwa Hindu Parishad announced that their Brij Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra will take place on August 28.
Internet access will be unavailable from 12:00 p.m. today till midnight on August 28.
On August 13, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad announced that a Brij Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra would be held on August 28.
The Haryana government denied permission for the Yatra, citing local police and intelligence agencies’ concerns about disruption of law and order.
After conflicts between two communities in Nuh on July 31, the Nuh authorities banned internet and SMS services.
The Nuh Deputy Commissioner had written to the state’s Home Department on Friday, recommending that Nuh internet service and bulk communications be suspended, and instructions were issued today by the Haryana Home Secretary to suspend internet access from August 26 to August 28.
The decision plainly states that there is a definite risk of disruption of public utilities, damage to public assets and facilities, and disruption of public law and order in Nuh due to the circulation of rumours and inflammatory content on the internet.
Haryana DC has ordered the temporary suspension of mobile internet services (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, CDMA, GPRS), bulk SMS (except banking and mobile recharge), and all dongle services supplied by mobile networks, with the exception of voice conversations.
