Monsoon mayhem in Uttarakhand: The water level in the Pranmati river in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district has climbed significantly as a result of torrential and unrelenting rains in the state, which has caused severe flooding and landslides.
The River Pranmati has swollen due to severe rains, according to Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana.
“There has been no cloudburst in Chamoli’s Tharali, but the water level in the Pranmati River has risen significantly.”
“Because the administration had already issued an alert in the area, there is no information about any kind of damage,” stated District Magistrate Khurana.
Waterlogging issue in Dehradun disrupts normal life
Heavy rains disturbed daily life in Dehradun’s Kaluwala neighbourhood, as rainwater invaded residences and created waterlogging on the streets.
According to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the Disaster Control Room reported that heavy rains caused considerable waterlogging in the streets and that rainwater had also invaded people’s homes in Dehradun’s Kaluwala district, affecting daily life.
After receiving the information, an SDRF crew arrived on the scene and began working immediately.
Rishikesh witnessed flood-like situation
Rishikesh was experiencing a flood-like situation, with the river’s water level rising above the danger limit as a result of recent heavy rains.
Rishikesh experienced the most rainfall in the country in a 24-hour period on Monday morning, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, with 42.00 cm falling during the period.
Meanwhile, two-wheeler traffic on the Ram Jhula Bridge was halted as a precautionary measure.
Rains wreak havoc in Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami performed an airborne reconnaissance of flood-affected districts in the state on Monday, as well as a review of the Ganga river’s rising water level in Rishikesh.
According to official estimates, 52 persons perished in the state this monsoon season as a result of rain-related accidents, while another 37 were injured.
On the orders of Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami, SDRF and NDRF personnel were deployed in areas severely impacted by rain-related disasters.
