INDIA concludes Manipur visit
After a two-day visit to the violent state, I.N.D.I.A. bloc MPs from the opposition arrived back in New Delhi on Sunday.
On Monday, the multi-party delegation of 21 MPs from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance will gather in the chamber of the leader of the opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, in Parliament to receive an update on the situation in the troubled northeastern state.
No-Confidence motion
The notice for a no-confidence move against the government in the Lok Sabha was submitted by the Opposition front on Wednesday.
The motion was later approved by the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla following the required headcount of over 50 MPs. Birla stated that he will set a date and time for the conversation after consulting with all parties.
Agenda of the week in Parliament
The government’s agenda for this week in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha includes the Bill that will replace the Centre’s Ordinance on control of services in Delhi.
The ordinance introduced by the Centre in May that excluded “services” from the legislative authority of the Delhi legislative assembly is intended to be replaced by the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Days after the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the control of services in Delhi, the ordinance was introduced.
The Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023 will be introduced by Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur in the Rajya Sabha today to address subjects relating to the press, periodicals registration, and things incidental or connected thereto. In order to alter the Cinematograph Act of 1952, he will also introduce the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Lower House today.
The Rajya Sabha earlier approved the Bill.
Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Union Minister of Law and Justice, will introduce the Mediation Bill, 2021 in the Rajya Sabha today for consideration and passage in order to encourage and facilitate mediation, especially institutional mediation, for the resolution of disputes, whether they be commercial or otherwise, enforce mediated settlement agreements, establish a body for the registration of mediators, promote community mediation, and make online mediation as acceptable.
In order to amend the Registration of Births and Deaths Act of 1969, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to introduce the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Lok Sabha today.
