Kedarnath issued a rain and snow alert, warning pilgrims

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for the next couple of days due to the potential for rain and snowfall in the upper Himalayan areas.
According to Mayur Dixit, the district magistrate for Rudraprayag, a request has been made for the security of the travellers travelling to Kedarnath Dham.

“The passengers should stay at the same place and travel infrequently until the weather is good,” he said.

He said that Kedarnath Dham is currently experiencing constant snowfall and that the yatra is being managed. After 10:30 am, passengers are not permitted to travel from Sonprayag to Kedarnath.

“All the passengers should take special care of their safety and cooperate with the district administration by following the guidelines issued by the state government and the district administration,” he added, making the appeal to all the passengers.

He anticipated that everyone would only set out for Kedarnath when the weather was favourable.

The Uttarakhand government initially suspended accepting registration requests from pilgrims for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra on April 25, the day Kedarnath Dham’s doors opened, due to heavy snowfall on the pilgrimage path and a Met Department warning of bad weather.

The Kedarnath Dham path has received a lot of snow, according to an advisory from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

An official statement predicts that Kedarghati’s weather will continue to be unfavourable this week. “For the upcoming week, Kedarghati’s weather is predicted to be terrible. The state administration has halted the registration of visits to Kedarnath Dham following a warning from the meteorological department.

The Meteorological Department’s warning and the three to four feet of snow that have fallen on the Kedarnath walking path and Dham have caused the registration of pilgrims for the pilgrimage to be suspended, it said.

On the lucky day of Akshay Tritiya, the Yatra started from Yamunotri Dham.
